New York Travel
My two New York Travel experiences were an Amtrak train ride to Grand Central Station (followed by a car ride to Long Island) and a bus ride to New Jersey (followed by a commuter train trip into Penn Station). Both New York travel experiences involved a scattering of subway rides throughout the trip. Apart from the fact that the trains and buses were dirty and that the New York subway system made me feel small, meek and somewhat baffled, I immensely enjoyed the freedom of rapid movement and the sense of stilted camaraderie--we all had the touch the same subway poles (lending thoughts to the spread of the plague); we all had to fight for the same seats; we were all carried along at the whim of a great metal force to wherever it was that we were going. New York travel certainly made me feel urbane.
